Ambition, secrecy and the long shadow of reputation bind this carefully chosen quartet. A young woman propelled into sudden fame learns how ruthless the spotlight can be, while in quiet neighbourhoods and close-knit communities, whispers carry real danger. New beginnings are never simple when the past refuses to stay buried. Each novel explores resilience under scrutiny, the courage to rebuild and the cost of carving out life on one’s own terms.

Ian Rankin is always a good read but it is interesting to have one of his other series which shows a different style and for me the best read in the selection.
