Before the television series, there were the books. Mick Herron's Jackson Lamb was quietly dismantling Whitehall bureaucracy long before streaming services discovered him. Ian Rankin's Rebus was working his way through Edinburgh's criminal geography before TV came calling. The best screen adaptations begin with source material that can carry the weight. If you have watched any of these and not yet read them, this is where the story actually starts.
TITLES: Mick Herron, 'Slow Horses' + Ian Rankin, 'Strip Jack' + Michael Connelly, 'Narrows'
Ian Rankin is always a good read but it is interesting to have one of his other series which shows a different style and for me the best read in the selection.
